Aqua Tikes-swimming lessons for parents and children in Bath

Aqua Tikes

With 5 years experience, Aqua Tikes offers baby and toddler swimming lessons in Bath. Teaching babies to swim for happiness, for health for life.

If you're thinking about baby swimming sessions, allow us to introduce you to Aqua Tikes' little family; Eddie, Lora and Zach...
Eddie & Zach fell in love with swimming when Zach was just 8 weeks old. Both Daddy and Zach enjoyed having lots of fun in the water, building their confidence and bonding. As he grew into a toddler, Zach really loved his swimming so he encouraged his mummy, Lora, to take him to classes as well.
Lora and Eddie enjoyed the whole experience of baby swimming lessons so much they decided that they wanted to introduce other parents to the joys of teaching their own little ones to swim in a safe and enjoyable environment – and so their second baby, Aquababies, was born.
Zach's now 7 and little Aquababies has grown up with him to become Aqua Tikes!
Why do Aqua Tikes recommend you take your little one swimming?
  • For happiness: Quality bonding time with baby, no distractions
  • For health: Great for baby’s cognitive and physical development
  • For life: A skill for life that might save a life
Teaching weekdays and at weekends in warm pools around Swindon Aqua Tikes offer unique family friendly lessons tailored to individuals within a class setting.
Aqua Tikes teach little ones from 10 weeks through to 5 years using lessons plans that have been developed from over 20 years of research and experience with the emphasis on:
  • Learning how to swim in a secure environment
  • Understanding how to stay safe in and around water
Photo Shoots:
Aqua Tikes also provide a wonderful underwater photography service. Get a fantastic keepsake (digital image) of your little one underwater from £40 and/or a mini film for just £15.

Home Start - A Guide to Being A Home Visiting Volunteer

Summer holiday traffic: M4, M5 and M49 delay warning.

Drivers are being urged to plan their journeys carefully for Sunday (July 24) when a huge transformer will be travelling along the M4 and M5 to its new home.

The transformer, a piece of equipment needed to change the voltage of electricity before it is transmitted through the power network, will begin its journey from Avonmouth Port in Bristol at 8am.
It will travel to Iron Acton substation, where the estimated time of arrival is between 2.30pm and 3pm

A special, heavy haulage lorry will transport the transformer. The lorry will be 55 metres long by 5 metres wide and weigh 235 tonnes.
Due to the size and weight, the lorry will travel between 10 and 15 miles per hour

A police escort and special haulage team will accompany the lorry to ensure the safety of the public and workers. The police escort will also be there to manage traffic and to halt traffic for a short time at certain places, such as when the lorry needs to straddle two road lanes, turn or travel along narrow roads.
Where the lorry is across both lanes of a road, oncoming traffic will be pulled over by the police escort and held until the lorry has safely passed.

Due to the size of the lorry, it must take an indirect route to Iron Acton substation to avoid hazards, such as weak bridges and narrow turning points.
The lorry will leave Avonmouth docks via the M49. It will then head east on the M4 before joining the M5 northbound. The lorry then travels to Junction 13 before returning southbound, where it will exit onto the B4509 at Junction 14.
Finally, the lorry passes through the villages of Cromhall, Bagstone and Rangeworthy, and then follows the B4059 until it reaches Latteridge village, close to its final destination.

Visiting the Royal United Hospital in Bath? Access issues

An access road to public car parks at the Royal United Hospital in Bath is to close temporarily.
The road will be closed on July 23 and 24 while workmen carry out "essential work" required for the construction of a new 300-space car park at the hospital.

The main entrance drop-off point, bus stops, Blue Badge car park and the Princess Anne maternity wing car park will be open as normal.

But patients, visitors and staff will not be able to turn right at the main entrance roundabout and will have to use the Penn Hill Road entrance to reach all other car parks on the site. Diversion and information signs will be in place.

A spokesman for the hospital said: "We apologise for any inconvenience."

The new car park is due to open in September.

Temporary closure of AFF Foreign and Commonwealth Enquiry Service from 12th July 2016 until mid-September

Our current Foreign and Commonwealth Assistant, Michelle Prince-Burnett, will sadly be leaving AFF after three years of outstanding work. In her time at AFF she has helped thousands of Foreign and Commonwealth families, championing their needs and striving for the best outcome for all.
Whilst we recruit for a replacement for Michelle, we will be unable to man the Foreign and Commonwealth Enquiries Service and therefore normal service will cease from the 12th July 2016 until mid-September. Please note, cases that are already on our system will be dealt with.
In exceptional, urgent cases, we will offer assistance but applicants must fall into emergency criteria. To find out if you are eligible for help, please click here.
If you do not meet the emergency criteria, please visit our Foreign & Commonwealth information page. This will be updated regularly and has a wealth of information which may help you find the answer to your query.
If you cannot find the answer, you will need to wait until we have resumed normal service. Please follow our social media pages and visit the website to keep up to date with the relevant information.
We would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused and will work to resolve the staffing gap as quickly as possible.
